Volunteers

Our volunteers make it all possible. Whether it’s hammering nails, helping to run a fundraising event, preparing lunch for a college group, or stuffing envelops for a mass mailing ~ they truly are what makes GAHFH special and successful!

VOLUNTEERS ARE ESSENTIAL TO HABITAT. Approximately 80% of construction for each house is completed by people willing to donate their time, talent, and energy to help those in their community. Some volunteers work weekly, while others come once a month.

YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE A CONSTRUCTION EXPERT! Our volunteers have wide ranging skill levels: some are highly skilled professionals, others have tinkered with construction here and there, and still others are completely new to the process. A professional construction manager is on hand to oversee the building process and direct the volunteer crew.

NOT ALL VOLUNTEERING HAPPENS AT CONSTRUCTION SITES. If you believe in Habitat but feel more comfortable in settings other than construction sites, you can still help. The Habitat ReStore provides an ongoing source of funding and materials by selling new and used building materials and home goods to the public at discounted prices. Volunteers are needed to help the store run smoothly and efficiently. Also, there are opportunities to assist with fundraising events which help provide the monetary resources needed to continue the construction of homes.
