Pray

First and foremost, Habitat for Humanity is an ecumenical Christian ministry. Therefore we believe that the single most important thing anyone can do to support this ministry is to pray.

Through prayer, Habitat continues to make a dramatic difference in the lives of people around the world. Many volunteers are drawn to this ministry after hearing God's call and seeking God's guidance through prayer. Other prayers are answered when families and communities grow in the shelter of God's grace. And still others are answered when the hurdles of funding and building homes are overcome through the miracles of prayer.

Things to consider in prayer:
Those in need of shelter
That people will respond as God calls them
Thanks to God for the blessings of the Habitat ministry
For strength and direction in Habitat’s ongoing ministry
That God will direct people to use their gifts and put their faith into action

Prayer to Make Poverty History
Christ our Lord, your light shines into the shadows,
and shows us where the obstacles to change lie.

We know that often they are in our own hearts,
in the way we live, and in our daily choices and actions.

We pray that we may accept the light of your love
as a challenge to change ourselves and our world.

We pray that, each day, we make the choices and take the actions
that will bring an end to poverty and hunger, and lead us all towards a fairer world.

Be with us, Lord, as we face your challenge
and learn how to live our lives in love. Amen
