    Habitat for Humanity Mission Statement

Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with God and people everywhere, from all walks of life, to develop communities with God’s people in need by building and renovating houses so that there are decent houses in decent communities in which people can live and grow into all that God intended.

Habitat for Humanity teaches the theology of the hammer as a means to put aside our differences and to work in partnership with one another. This theology is about bringing a wide diversity of people, churches, and other organizations together to build houses and establish viable and dynamic communities. It acknowledges that differences of opinion exist on numerous subjects—politics, philosophy, and theology—but that we can find common ground in using a hammer as an instrument to manifest God’s love. Even though there may be strong differences on all sorts of things, we can agree on the imperative of the Gospel to serve others in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
